Today, Swan Bitcoin announced that NBA Champion Matthew Dellavedova has joined the company as Vice President of Business Development. Dellavedova, well-known for his successful professional basketball career, including winning the NBA Championship in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers and a bronze medal with the Australian national team in the 2020 Olympics, will bring his expertise to the Bitcoin industry.
Although Dellavedova has been involved in startup investments and advisory roles since 2017, he is now focusing on the Bitcoin industry. “I’m excited to join Swan and help promote adoption, particularly in the sports industry and Australia, where I continue to play professional basketball,” said Dellavedova. “Learning from the experts at Swan has been a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to educating athletes, specifically, about the advantages of Bitcoin.”
Dellavedova’s recent involvement with his alma mater, the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team, highlights his commitment to introducing Bitcoin to athletes, especially considering the recent Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rule changes that create new opportunities for college athletes.
A key focus for Dellavedova is how Bitcoin can aid young athletes in saving for their future. Due to Bitcoin’s inherent qualities that prevent devaluation, it is considered a dependable asset for long-term value preservation and growth.
“Matt is a smart businessman and investor. He is clearly disciplined and an incredibly hard worker,” commented Swan founder and CEO Cory Klippsten. “However, the main reason we brought Delly onto the Swan team is his dedication to spreading Bitcoin adoption and the diverse audience he can reach outside of the Bitcoin industry.”
Matthew Dellavedova’s transition from the basketball court to the Bitcoin industry exemplifies the increasing interest and potential of Bitcoin in various sectors. Prominent figures, like Dellavedova, are leveraging their influence to promote Bitcoin adoption and its benefits.
